Day One, Our first impressions

Brasilia , September 27, 2010

When we first arrived at Manaus we had a very different sensation of climate. Manaus is a very hot and humid place, the smell   in the air was very diferent than the one that we are familiar with, it has the smell of a place in the midle of the jungle. Our first views of the city made we think we were in Brasìlia, there were many apartaments and a lot of cars in the streets. When we  went to the small port that was when we noticed  the difference. If we look to the front we could only see water and trees, the most interesting thing was to get insted of a car got a boat that was really confortable and different.
When we got to the hotel the first thing we noticed was how fast we can get sweaty, than we started hearing some monkey noise that were very diferent from Brasília's noise. We were recepcionated with a delicious Cupuaçu drink that really refreshed our body, than we went to the restaurant and ate a very good meal composed by fish and other different foods of the region.
When we got to see our room`s we now noticed how this hotel is different from a 5 stars hotel, but the hotel was really good and comfortable. The main difference's from hotels we had already stayed were that there was no TV neitheir a intercomunicator. However it was not a five star's hotel it looked really organized and clean.
What did we do on the first day?: After we arrived to the Hotel we went to the  monkey forest. It was part of a project called Floresta Viva that is famous to conserve the natural habitat of endangered species and to rehabilitate monkeys. At night we went to a search for Caymans and we found a small Cayman that we called Baby-Amazon.
